A lovely evening was had by all who attended tbe second concert of the Louisville is for Lovers series last night on the roof of Glassworks. The roof was full of people enjoying the lovely summer night. Adventure played a great rocking set followed by Second Story Man.  Many thanks for those that came, as well as the beloved John King for keeping local bands on stage to give us a good show.

4/1 first glassworks rooftop show of the season

April Fools day brings you the first rooftop show of the season, Cougar Express with Bad Blood & Sam Snead. Doors 7:30pm, 21+ $10. 

also this weekend at glassworks is the Second Most Awesome Art Market (April 1-3rd) First Floor.

This event is free to the public and features artists such as Laura Fauna. could be awesome..

The Gallery Singers are playing a rare show on Friday September 3rd on the glassworks rooftop with Lucky Pineapple member JC Denison's 15 member contemporary orchestra, Another Seven Astronauts, along with special guests OK DEEJAYS. it is the last show of the summer rooftop music series, and a special one too, everyone in attendance will receive a free split 7" with exclusive work by Another 7 Astronauts and The Gallery Singers. this record will only be available at the show, a must have for fans of either band.

upcoming album release shows, albums, and events

over the years i have gotten quite a few emails from peeps all around the world asking about full length albums from Louisville Is For Lovers mainstays. this includes Whistle Peak, The Deloreans, The Gallery Singers, and Tamara Dearing (pronounced Camera with a T).
Just recently a nice girl in Vancouver asked me to comprise a list of upcoming albums and events from some of our Louisville Favorites. and since you love louisville music, i will share it with you as well.

First of all The Deloreans and Whistle are both working on new albums, that should be released within the next 6 months, for now you can pick up their debut releases:

Tamara Dearing has a new album coming out next month, and the album release show will be at Vernon Club with Squeezebot and Iamis Sep.4th 8pm 21+ $10.

The Gallery Singers will be making a rare appearance along with Another 7 Astronauts for the last Glassworks Rooftop Event of the summer on Sep.3rd, 8 pm $8, 21+ and everyone in attendance will receive a free split 7" of the 2 bands. a must for fans of either band.

9/11 Latin Cultural Celebration w/ COSA SERIA

the 6th Annual Adelante Latin Rooftop Dance Party, is a Benefit for the Adelante Achievers (and louisville likes it's Achievers), with music by louisville's most loved Salsa group COSA SERIA on the rooftop, and Tapas & tequila tasting provided by Jarfi's on the first floor. admission to the roof is $10, and tix for the food and drink are $20.

There are 2, count 'em, events this weekend at Glassworks for you to shake your ass 10 stories up.

Friday July 29th DJ Booty Sweat and others will be rocking the wax on the roof for 21+ crowd. $10 and the best view of the skyline aside from the county jail.

Sunday August 1st is "Salsa In The City" featuring Louisville's hottest Latin band, Cosa Seria with DJ JBird and Matt Anthony (of WFPK fame).

review: Cougar Express at Glassworks

just about anything on top of the glassworks building equals a good time, and when the music is something worth hearing it makes the view that much more worth while.

on Friday July 23rd Dangerbird, The Instruction, and Cougar Express hauled they're battle axes up 9 stories and slayed a max capacity crowd behind the backdrop of the mighty Ohio.

Dangerbird started the night with their patented Stones+Pine Club sound, which is actually a good combo, added with frontman Brian Grey's between song banter, there is no wonder they have a loyal following.

The Instruction followed with what their manager, Cory Greenwall, described as a "Vhs or Beta" related sound. actually i think they more sound like a Smiths + Suicide with a 16 candles kinda feel. even though i never had really gotten into the whole electro-dance resurgence, i did enjoy it. but what really knocked my hair back was the way too loud, and strangely sexy Cougar Express. these boys were so loud that people on the street a block away followed the sound to the roof like a snake to St. Patrick.

They have been making waves around town lately, and it's no wonder with their dueling axe solos like Black Sabbath and Fog Hat beating each other to death in a heart shaped bed with satin sheets. this distorted sultry sound in no short way draws in the peeps, as well as more high heels and shorty shorts than i've seen in a long time. this may be to the band's 'dirty pretty boy' look and front man John Burke's sexy nerd appeal (think if Bun E. Carlos and Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick had a baby). and as no surprise, there was more real live cougars there than at ladies night at Jim porter's.

Guitarist Bob Scott says he has no idea why the cougars started popping up to their shows, and that the name Cougar Express and the Cougar outpouring is a coincidence, and the name was supposed to just sound super american. either way, they have the sound to melt panties, and that sound doesn't care who's panties they are.

7/23 glassworks rooftop series

Cheyenne Marie Mize: Review and Preview

I caught Cheyenne's in-store performance at EarXtacy last night. A beautiful performance by a beautiful woman. She was supported by Saredren Wells who just released a CD on the louisvilleisforlovers label. Also supporting Cheyenne and getting a few songs of her own was Joan Shelley whose new CD will be available for the first time at Friday night's Glassworks Rooftop Show. Joan is in Maiden Radio with Cheyenne, has filled in for her at Arnett Hollow gigs, and like Cheyenne is also a beautiful woman making beautiful music. I'm also looking forward to this release after getting a taste last night. Friday night's show is $8 at the door or you can run down to Ear Xtacy and get tickets there today for $6. Doors @8pm, show starts @9. If it rains the show will be on the first floor. Do yourself a favor and make it to this show and pick up both CDs while you're there!

Three Chances to See Cheyenne

Anytime you get a chance to bear witness to beauty that is Cheyenne Marie Mize, you gotta try to find a way to be there. Cheyenne has three shows in the next seven days around town as part of her solo project. Cheyenne has collaborated with just about every great Louisville musician you can name and is stepping out on her own more these days. I caught her at the Monkey Wrench with Ben Sollee, Daniel Martin Moore, and Yim Yames last weekend. She also performed that night with two of her other bands, Thomas A. Minor and the Picket Line and Maiden Radio. Other past collaborations include Arnett Hollow, The Fervor, Wax Fang, and the list goes on. Here's this week's shows:

TONIGHT - Cheyenne opens for Vic Wooten at Headliners Music Hall; $18

WEDNESDAY - in-store performance at Ear Xtacy @ 7 pm; free

FRIDAY - Cheyenne and Joan Shelley perform on the Roof of the Glassworks. Tickets are $6 at the door. Cash bar. The Glassworks website is billing this as a Double CD Release show. I'm not sure if this is a belated party for Cheyenne's wonderful EP, Before Lately, but I'm holding out hope it'll be new material from Cheyenne!

despite storms earlier in the day, the Louisville is for Lovers dual album release show on Friday night was a wonderful weather friendly event. Roadie and Cheyenne Mize, Saredren Wells, & The Mack all played wonderful sets as The Sun set beautifully over the Ohio River. all agreed it was a spectacular night, capped by an impromptu dance party curtsey of Drew Sellers (Saredren Wells).
