from bssb:
BackseatSandbar.com presents the first of hopefully a plentiful series of concerts, the first of which is the amazing Thao Nguyen with the Get Down Stay Down, live at Skull Alley on Monday, July 21st. As I’ve mentioned before (and thus the reason I’m putting this show on) Thao Nguyen (pronounced “Win”) is one of my favorite artists of the year, having released my top album of January on Kill Rock Stars, We Brave Bee Stings and All to significant praises in the blogosphere & received a 7.7 from Pitchfork in follow-up of 2005’s Like the Linen. Also, I had the chance to see Thao (review) & her stage presence resmebles that of a cat with a ball of yarn, thrashing about in the cutest of ways. To match, Thao has the lyrical beauty and emotion of Cat Power less the aching with the energy of Feist, so if you’ve a warm place in your heart for either of those two, you’re going to absolutely fall in love with Thao.
Tickets are $7 at the door & it’s all-ages. Get on out and support indie music, as well as the new Skull Alley art gallery/music venue
Thanks to Backseatsandbar for getting together the sampling of music below...
