Concert: Southside @ Ear X-tacy and Carmichael's

Hunter S. Thompson's birthday is this Friday and Ron Whitehead and Southside are celebrating by performing some of Hunter's favorite songs. In addition, Southside will be playing some originals from their new album, 'Southside Lounge' (an excellent discs if I do say so myself!) The free in-store concert at Ear X-tacy records is this Friday the 18th at 7pm.

The following Thursday (July 24th) Southside will also play a book release show at Carmichael's Bookstore on Frankfort Ave. from 6-9pm. William McKeen will also be reading from and signing his new Hunter bio, OUTLAW JOURNALIST: The Life and Times of Hunter S. Thompson.

Ron has given us a sneak peek of some of the songs that will be played between the two shows...

Knockin' on Heaven's Door
White Rabbit
All Along the Watchtower
Alcohol and Pills
My Old Kentucky Home
Dead Flowers
Lawyers Guns and Money

If you're a regular to our site you'll remember when we posted the version of White Rabbit by Jim James and Sarah Elizabeth about a month ago, if not, go ahead and give it a listen.

This Friday for 91.9 WFPK's Live Lunch, Ron Whitehead and Southside will preform songs and spoken word from their new album "Southside Lounge" available now at Ear X-tacy or online at Ron's website.
If you've been reading, we recently heard from three of the members of Southside (Andy Cook, Sarah Elizabeth as well as Ron) on the Rudyard Kipling benefit show that was recently unearthed. I still can't get over what an impact that show left on me so you can imagine I'm ready to see Ron and company do their thing again this Friday.
Ron promises “this will be the BEST, MOST OUTRAGEOUS, MOST CREATIVE, MOST UNQIUE BAND to be on the Radio Waves!”

Upcoming Southside shows:
July 18th - CD Release show @ Ear X-tacy Records
July 24th - Carmichael Bookstore (Frankfort Ave. location)

Sarah Elizabeth - House of the Rising Sun
Ron Whitehead - Dog Sky

Recording: Jim James @ The Rudyard Kipling 6/3/07

Hard to believe its been a year since this amazing show. Finally a recording has found its way to us. Its a good thing too because this show needs to be heard. It's 3 hours of pure magic. Something special sure was in the air on that night. Please continue to support the Rud in any way you can.

The show is a big download but its well worth it. Here are a few of the highlights:
