FiveOTwo Artist Party/Ron Whitehead poem unveiling

A few months ago, Ron Whitehead was commissioned by the city to write a poem about Louisville. Ron came back with "Louisville: Sweet City of My Dreams" That poem is set to be unveiled this Saturday at the FiveOTwo artist party at the new Green Building at 732 East Market Street. Ron's poem has been printed by fiveOtwo and will be available at the show. A photograph I took of Ron was picked to be a part of the poem poster so I am super stoked.

There will be live music by Ron and his new band Southside and music by spun tunes by DJ Jason Clark. Food/Hooch is said to be catered at the event.

from the fiveOtwo site:

You, yes you, are invited to party with the artists of Five0Two at the brand-new ever-so-cool Green Building.

Five0Two exists to support Louisville artists in producing artwork that expresses their love for Louisville.

Over the past nine months we’ve collected some great work - and we want to show it off for everyone to see. If you love Louisville, art, and a party, come to a place where you can do all three at once.

Recording: Ron Whitehead and Southside @ WFPK

Last week Ron invited me down to WFPK Studios to hear his new band, Ron Whitehead andSouthside perform at Live Lunch. What a great way to break away from the 9 to 5 and get the weekend started right!
Ron had asked if I could take some pictures while I was there and I got a chance to talk with the band after the show as well. These guys put on a hell of an intimate show that left me inspired. When I walked out the front doors of the studio on 4th street, I had that fresh feeling of a brand new day; The sun was brighter, I thought everyone had a smile on their face and I could smell the air, not just breathe it.
Below you'll see a photo slideshow and you can listen to a recording of the performance that I had set to record from the radio before I left work that mid morning.
Thanks to Ron, WFPK and Southside!

Concert: Ron Whitehead and Southside @ Live Lunch

This Friday for 91.9 WFPK's Live Lunch, Ron Whitehead and Southside will preform songs and spoken word from their new album "Southside Lounge" available now at Ear X-tacy or online at Ron's website.
If you've been reading, we recently heard from three of the members of Southside (Andy Cook, Sarah Elizabeth as well as Ron) on the Rudyard Kipling benefit show that was recently unearthed. I still can't get over what an impact that show left on me so you can imagine I'm ready to see Ron and company do their thing again this Friday.
Ron promises “this will be the BEST, MOST OUTRAGEOUS, MOST CREATIVE, MOST UNQIUE BAND to be on the Radio Waves!”

Upcoming Southside shows:
July 18th - CD Release show @ Ear X-tacy Records
July 24th - Carmichael Bookstore (Frankfort Ave. location)

Sarah Elizabeth - House of the Rising Sun
Ron Whitehead - Dog Sky
