Wax Fang & The Whigs @ The Dame Fri 6/20

A couple months ago I saw this exact same line-up in the exact same place for 6 dollars. I actually felt like I stole something afterward. I would happily pay 4 times that much for these 2 bands. This time around the show will cost just 8 dollars. 9pm Friday.

You could tell that the Whigs were huge Wax Fang fans that night and they confirmed it here...

Busy Weekend For Second Story Man

Second Story Man will be playing 3 shows this weekend starting Friday @ 6th & Oak.
Saturday they will head to Cincinnati to play the York St Cafe, and on Sunday will be playing The Dame in Lexington.

Speaking of The Dame, a fund-raiser is being held on Friday to try and help save it. Here is more info:

Preserve Lexington has announced a fund-raiser called Block Aid to save the downtown block of buildings where the proposed CentrePointe development is planned. The barbecue party will be at the Limestone Club, 213 North Limestone, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on June 13. Vice Mayor Jim Gray will be a guest speaker. The Swells and Between Clark and Hildale will provide music. A silent auction will feature early posters from The Dame, a music venue in the block between Main and Vine streets, Limestone and South Upper where CentrePointe is proposed. A commemorative poster of the block by artist John P. Lackey will be auctioned. A concert later that evening at Busters on Main Street will feature the Moxies. The cover charge will be donated to Preserve Lexington. Tickets are $20 for the Limestone Club or $25 for the Limestone Club and Busters. Buy tickets in advance at www.preservelexington.com or the night of the event at the Limestone Club.

The Features will bring their energetic live show to their

The Features - Me & The Skirts

Wax Fang @ The Dame

A little over two weeks ago, Wax Fang stunned the city of Lexington with an incredible show at The Dame. Although it was a late night driving back to Louisville, it was worth getting to see Scott, Jake and Kevin rock the house outside of Louisville in their last show before this months Forecastle Festival starting July 27th.

Below you'll find our meager attempt at taping the show (my 2nd taping experience). I only have a MiniDisc recorder and I think I had a bad MD so there are a couple spots with dead space and I closed the gaps and left them alone. It's only 20 seconds in a couple different spots. The house sound guy couldn't really get the sound right and the vocals suffered, you can hear how much went on in the 5+ min intro time to check the sound. Pictures are also linked below.

All in all, it turned out well, I think. Thanks to Wax Fang for allowing us to tape. This will also be uploaded to archive.org soon.
