Ryan Adams To Play Brown Theater 5/19

This Saturday as part of 91.9 WFPK's Listener appreciation two night concert, Ryan Adams will be headlining the second show. Ryan just recently settled on a final track listing for his upcoming album, Easy Tiger due out June 26th. Also make sure not to miss Viet Nam.

Friday 5/18:
Martin Sexton, Angelique Kidjo, Keller Williams and Tom Morello as The Nightwatchman (from Rage Against The Machine) at 7pm.


Saturday 5/19: Suzanne Vega, Paula Cole, Ryan Adams, Viet Nam and Charlie Louvin at 7pm.

Post Derby Friday, done right!

After the 2 week long Derby mega-festival, Louisville's not closing down to recuperate. She's up and kicking with a packed friday evening. Two friday events we're highlighting are a pre-game performance at Louisville Slugger Field by globe trotting local rockers, Your Black Star. The concert begins at 5:30 pm right before the Bats take on the Syracuse Sky chiefs at 7:05 pm. You can get in the park for as cheap as $7 to see the show.

Shortly after the Bats take the field, Follow the Train is playing a show with Minnow and Kangaroo at 8pm on the Roof of Louisville Glassworks on West Market. This will be the first show since cold, cold February that Follow the Train have played Louisville. They had a mini tour of some of the southeastern states; two nights of which opening for My Morning Jacket at the 40 watt in Athens Georgia (which we were lucky enough to get to see)

We're also stoked to get to see Minnow and Kangaroo for the first time as they have some killer tracks on their myspace pages. See you there!

The Slow Break/Wax Fang @ Pour Haus Photos

Last Thursday night The Slow Break and Wax Fang played the Pour Haus. It was a great Oaks eve show with The Slow Break opening the night with some raging rock. As the room started to fill, the temperatures would only increase. When Wax Fang took the stage, the place had to be 90 degrees and as the evening went on it only got hotter. Wax Fang put on a killer set with projections reminiscent of your middle school history class and Katie Fox from The Slow Break joined the band on stage to play AC/DC's TNT. Albeit a weeknight, the lack of sleep/hangover on Friday morning was well worth it. Photo links below...

Kentucky Fried Pickin' from Bearno's

It was Derby eve at Bearno's by the Bridge and as usual, Kentucky Fried Pickin' put on a couple great sets; they never fail to please a crowd. There's something special about the Bluegrass genre that gets your feet tapping and your head moving. It often inspires folks to pull our their dancing shoes and put on their best eastern Ky face and cut a rug out on the floor. I've been to quite a few KFP shows and never have I seen so many people get out and start dancing.

Mont De Sundua - Album Release Party

As we mentioned before, Month of Sundays will be releasing an album of previously unavailable recordings under the name "Mont De Sundua". Jim James and Dave Givan will be spinning classic soul and funk jams in honor of the album release on May 19th down at the Mainstreet Lounge in Louisville.

The album will be released at Think Indie authorized record stores throughout the country on May 22nd but you can buy it early on the 19th at the listening party.

Doors open @ 9pm and the listening party commences at 11pm until midnight.
