ART CONTEST!!

one of the most popular projects we have done here at 37flood.com was the Louisville Zombie Attack T-shirt Design contest... It was really crazy and a lot of fun. So, when we heard about a similar contest we jumped at the chance to participate.
As we mentioned in January, the New Deloreans album, American Craze, comes with paper doll versions of the band members, and the band has asked listeners to cut out the dolls and take pictures of them in crazy scenes. viewers on Facebook can 'like' the pictures and the 3 top winners get some really creative prizes:

-1st prize is a giftcard to Earxtacy in the amount of $50 + a test pressing of American Craze.
-2nd prize is a $20 gift card to Earxtacy + a test pressing of American Craze.
-3rd prize is a 12 pack of Harpoon Leviathan beer, delivered IN PERSON and drank LIVE by the entire
band with you + will perform an unplugged version of The Delorean’s song of your choice right in your living room! So fire up your crayons and your pencils!
Heres John's efforts:

Last Chance: Independent music downloads

Thinkindie.com the independent digital music alternative to the goliath, Itunes, has announced abruptly this month that it will be closing on Feb.15th. After contacting the site's managers, it seems they can't compete any longer with the Apple super store.
This is bad news to Ear X-tacy and Louisville Is For Lovers, both of whom use Thinkindie as their Digital Distributer. It's bad news for you to, as Thinkindie is the largest digital distributer of indie bands, and indie stores in the US. Sites like Bandcamp.com can pick up some slack, though Thinkindie offered free downloads, promotional downloads, rare exclusives, and price setting by the client.
This weekend is your last chance to pick up downloads of all Louisville Is For Lovers valentine's day comps (almost fitting that Valentine's day will be the last day to pick up these albums), as well as FREE albums,  EP's, as well as Ear X-tacy only releases and compilations.

Review: The Fervor "Arise Great Warrior"

Recently a friend of mine was asked by a reporter what his favorite album of all time was.. and when he told me his answer was a Doors album, I scoffed. maybe even berated him a little. and his answer was "Look, you put an amazing guitarist, genius keyboardist, and an idiot in a room together, and you'll probably get Light My Fire but every now and then you'll get When The Music is Over.''
And although this has no Bearing on album i'm attempting to review (besides maybe the genius pianist and amazing guitarist), it did force me to go back and listen to some 60's/70's albums and was recalled to a time when music painted surreal voyages of magic realism, enigmatic characters,  and strange love with ordinary lovers, (or ordinary love with strange lovers)..
Although The Fervor's Arise Great Warrior is a slight 7 songs, the near forty minutes sweeps through vast landscapes of crushing emotions that transforms ordinary peeps into formidable creatures, demons & warriors.
The first and title track sets the scene of how love can make anyone the bravest warrior,  riding stoically into uncharted territory.. The second track, 'Lead Me', looks into the other side of this love, I.E. lying and side stepping as a way not to hurt someone whom inevitably will be . Both songs weaving in and out of majestic Guitar and Keyboard solos by Husband and wife Ben and Natalie Felker, leading one to wonder where the inspiration for these detailed ballads of love's ability to make one a raving lunatic come from.
'Crazy for The feeling' and 'Bent around a Dying Dream' are some of the album's strongest, tho all 7 tracks are terrific, carrying an anthem of hope and insanity (or that feeling of wanting to throw up when someone you love let's you know for the first time that they love you too), anyone who has ever been in a relationship can relate too.
The Album finishes with "Let's get Loaded", a sweeping epic that ties up the Album's stand out moments, building up into an emotional reprise from the previous track with a chilling declaration from Keyboardist/Singer Natalie Felker: "Synthetic feelings, you can't manufacture your own/Are you the reason i am all alone?"
But like all great albums, the end of the last song recomposes it's self, compelling a feeling of hope, reminding us that all great journeys for love are filled with monsters and insanity, but are worth it in the end, even if all we have to show for it are some faded bruises and a few displays of blind loyalty we didn't know were possible.

The Fervor's "Arise Great Warrior" will be out tomorrow, Feb.7th, and is a prime example of this city's musical talent and emotional sincerity. for more info visit karatebodyrecords.com

Krazy Fest 5/20-22

Krazy Fest, one of my favorite annuals ever, is Back. in just a few short months, one of the first annual indie fests in louisville will tear this town apart.. hopefully.
The first Krazy fest (1998) ended with an explosive lightning storm that halted a set by one of my favorite bands, Superchunk. The last Krazy Fest (2003) ended with an explosive set by Andrew WK, and a riot resulting with a clash with the cops at a motel on Market Street. (very fun strangely enough).
Krazy fest has always lived up to it's name, and always had a large array of indie bands.
this year though, seems like the line-up is heavy in the hard core bands; By The Grace of God, Against Me!, Anti-Flag, with a slight departure with Hot Water Music.
In the past Krazy Fest has added big name headliners at the last minute, so we'll see. but no matter the line up, Krazy Fest is always interesting, with the crowd and vendors being as interesting as the bands.
This Year Krazy Fest will be May 20-22 at Expo 5, with a 3 day pass for just $75, very worth it, if it's anything like the crazy Krazy Fests of the past.

Funniest music videos of the decade

Comedy music doesn't easily appeal to me, but there have been some memorable moments in the past decade. So, wrapping up our decade in review..

"Saturday Night Live - Natalie Raps" uncensored version not embed-able, watch  here.

"Whip my hair back and forth" Neil Young (Jimmy Fallon) and Bruce Springsteen (Bruce Springsteen). this actually made the NPR ''Fresh Air" best moments of 2010.

"Boats N' Hoes" step brothers. Huff and Doback, nuff said.

"Dewey Cox- Guilty as Charged" Walk Hard. my favorite song from the movie. although  'Let's Duet' is worth seeing.

Digital Short "Dick in a Box" insta-classic with JT. also see "I'm on a boat", "Like a Boss" and BoomBox.

"Tenacious D - Explosivo" also see "The Final Showdown". and for extra credit "School of rock-Teacher's pet".

A nice, and weird, runner up.. Natalie Portman and Rashida jones "Kitties"... and for further strange viewing: Natalie Portman Feet.

share with us your favorite music videos from 2000-2010 by Feb.5 and you could win a copy of the new Deloreans CD or a signed copy of the Louisville is for Lovers "Anniversary" CD.
