4/20 Kristeen Young & Black Birds Of Paradise at New Vintage

This monday at New Vintage Kristeen Young (think an American version of Diamanda Galas or maybe equal parts Tamara Dearing, Marilyn Manson, and Ziggy Stardust) will be playing with 37FLOOD favorites Black Birds of Paradise. Yes, it is on a monday, but it'll be quite a show, and you do need to celebrate 4/20 in style.

Review: IamIs & Tamara Dearing Split 7"

Gubbey Records released Vol. 3 of its Split Series on Saturday. The single features IamIs' song "Paperface" and Tamara Dearing's "Break Your Heart" on a vinyl only release with a download card including five bonus tracks. Not to mention the fact that it's on bubblegum pink vinyl as a tribute to the single's "sugary sweet sound."

The first track of this release that Gubbey Records calls a "little honeycomb", is a psychedelic pop ballad brought to you to by two prominent contributors of the Slow Break and the Cut Family Foundation: Shawna Dellecave and Jason Cox. The duo wastes no time leaping headlong into this organ and humbucker fueled drive down a summer country road, lyrically climaxing with the lines: "you gotta' shake hands naturally/ sell yourself, that's the key/ you're a brand, that's all."

Tamara Dearing knows how to use a Wurlitzer, and for proof of this, look no further than the B side of this hot pink piece of wax in your hands. You must have an awesome record collection. On "Break Your Heart," Dearing's keyboards and lyrics sing like a doo-wop outfit while her drums groove like feel-good gangster rap, proclaiming "these are the records I play when I can't stand up straight."

This release is limited to 300 hand numbered copies, so be sure to pick it up whileyou still can!

The Mack, Tamara Dearing @ DCE 3/24

 The Mack, Tamara Dearing, Alana Amram (Alana is the daughter of Beat musician/poet David Amram) and the Rough Gems (from Brooklyn) are playing Thurs 3/24 at DCE. It's sounds like an interesting show, and it's free!

Tamara Dearing CD Release Shows

Tamara Dearing's new CD hits the streets next weekend and so far we're liking what we're hearing. Dearing will be performing at EarXtacy and Vernon Lanes on Sunday, September 4th to celebrate the release.

The in-store at Ear Xtacy is at 2pm and is free of charge.

The official CD release show is at Vernon Lanes. 37Flood favorites iAMIs and Squeeze-bot will open the show. The Female Art Collective featuring Laura Patterson, a.k.a. Bootsie Anne, will be selling their wares as well. Tickets are $10.

over the years i have gotten quite a few emails from peeps all around the world asking about full length albums from Louisville Is For Lovers mainstays. this includes Whistle Peak, The Deloreans, The Gallery Singers, and Tamara Dearing (pronounced Camera with a T).
Just recently a nice girl in Vancouver asked me to comprise a list of upcoming albums and events from some of our Louisville Favorites. and since you love louisville music, i will share it with you as well.

First of all The Deloreans and Whistle are both working on new albums, that should be released within the next 6 months, for now you can pick up their debut releases:

Shotgun Fest 6/26

the 4th annual shotgun fest is this saturday in good ol' Germantown; home of shotgun camelback! this is usually a pretty good time, and easy on the wallet too; but with less public nudity than the Schnitzelburg fest.
this more family friendly Fest kicks off at noon on the corner of Schiller and Kentucky ST with a blast from the past: Monkey Boy and keeps going until nine with Tamara Dearing, Squeeze Bot, Heidi Howe, John Gage, C+, Lotus Blake, PRAIRIE WISDOM, and Your News Vehicle.
but just as exciting is the annual after party at Nach Bar, kicking off at nine with The Deloreans, Cougar Express, and The Zero Element.. also FREE! So, pack your pockets and purses with plenty of Natty Light and get down to Germantown.
