People Noise - CD Release Party
This coming Saturday local band People Noise will return home to play a CD release party at Headliners Music Hall. The CD has been out since June 12th and that makes this party 18 days late but as they say, better late than never.Playing along with People Noise will also be The October from Calvert City, KY; Parlour Boys from Kentucky as well. One Less Reason, hailing from Memphis, TN will also be in attendance.
Doors are at 8pm and the cost is a measly 7 bucks so get your ass out there and see some live music!

The Best Concert of All Time.
The following is from Ron Whitehead:
The Best concert I've ever had anything to do with. You've got to understand. Since childhood I've attended, performed at, produced, and participated in tens of thousands of concerts round the world. Last night, June 3rd 2007, The Rudyard Kipling Benefit Concert was The Best.
The Best Concert of All Time.
There are many reasons why it was The Best Concert of all time. I'll name a few. Jim James (My Morning Jacket) and Sarah Elizabeth Whitehead are my two favorite singers. They are two of The Best singers songwriters musicians. But there is more. They have a rare necessary element: deep passionate compassionate hearts. They have an innate inherent wisdom that is both ancient and childlike. All those elements birth a charisma that is electrifying. The energy at The Rud was electric. 4-hour concert. The audience in rapt attention. There is more. The union of male (Jim) and female (Sarah) energy produced a duet unlike any other duet, past or present. Plus. No singers have the courage or ability to go where Jim and Sarah went at the Live at The Rud concert. They covered the spectrum of musical genres: from acappella mountain to oldtime to country to blues to jazz to folk to soul to rock to R&B, from broken hearted spirituals to steamy romance, and more. In one concert Jim and Sarah proved that they are master singers in any genre. The audience was mesmerized. Not one person, including the performers, will ever be the same. That includes Carl Broemel (amazing), Andy Cook (brilliant), and me. The night was more than special, it was pure alchemy. We were transformed transported to new realms. Spirit and sex became one energy. The Holy Spirit The Great Spirit moved in us and through us. The Rud was filled with angels with spirits. We heard angels sing, perform. We will never be the same. My heart is open. Tears of joy. Amazing Grace. Thanks.

Quick Rudyard Kipling Benefit Show Review
I just wanted to post real quick and let everyone know how lucky I feel that I got to see this. It really was a special occasion that I will never forget. Hopefully we did the Rud some good. Tomorrow we will do a full post with pics and more details.• Jim James was on stage almost the whole time. Just Under 4 hrs.
• Carl Brommel played on most of the MMJ songs but not all.
• Tons of covers.
• Two new Songs (positive about one, the other could have been a cover I didn't recognize)
• We all wore blind folds for a couple songs.
Keep your fingers crossed about a recording surfacing.
PS: The second episode of the podcast is almost complete. It should be out by the end of the week.

"This Louisville, KY band, formerly known as "Month of Sundays," was founded in 1992. This album was recorded above the Cadillac Studio- Shelbyville, KY in 1998, mixed at the Funeral Home by Kevin Ratterman and Mont de Sundua in 2006. Why did it take almost ten years to release these songs after they were recorded? We don't know, but we're damn glad they got around to releasing it!"
Pitchfork - Jim James' Pre-My Morning Jacket Band Unearthed
The belated self-titled sophomore album was originally recorded in 1998 with help from former MMJ member Johnny Quaid. It is due out May 22 via James' own Removador label, and it will be available in record stores across the U.S.

Back in the day (1992) My Morning Jacket’s Jim James was in another band called Mont de Sundua. And now, all these years later, the band’s previously unreleased, self-titled sophomore album is finally coming May 22 via James’ own Removador label.

You may have seen the little mention over on Pitchfork this past week about the unearthed sounds of Jim James' pre-My Morning Jacket racket in a band called Mont de Sundua. I am enjoying the off-kilter spacey thump of this track from their album that was recorded back in 1998 and never released. It's going to be out this year and it sounds as if they were having a lot of fun when they made it. Even if they do look like they are livin' the thug life in that picture from their MySpace.
Velocity Weekly - Early Sunday
The band's rock was sometimes edgier and almost always more emo than Jacket. The pizzeria shows were intense, but the only stage -- er, pit -- effects were dimmed lights and the band's performance.

Jason Isbell Free Show at Ear X-Tacy
Jason Isbell who recently left The Drive-By Truckers to pursue a solo career will be performing a free show at Ear X-Tacy this Saturday the 19th at 3pm. His first solo album called "Sirens Of The Ditch" is set to be released in July. You can stream some of the tracks here. Also here is a video of Jason doing "Dress Blues" a song about his childhood friend who went away to Iraq.
