8/18: Mutts (Chicago) & Satellite Twin at Kaiju

Chicago's resident growling junkyard dog band Mutts and Louisville's dirty satin sheets of a man band Satellite Twin have teamed up for a truly top-shelf smokey motel room soundtrack in the form of a split 7" released this Saturday on Gubbey Records, and a release show at Kaiju with Sheri Streeter.

1/13 Vibrolas @ Kaiju

Hailing from Science Hill, Kentucky's most celebrated and longest running Hot-Rod-Oil-Pan-Sludge-Rock band The Vibrolas will be pointing their trademark Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser (named The Vista Bruiser) towards Kaiju on Jan. 13th and will be bringing with them Doom-Jazz group North By North from Chicago.  Louisville's Retro-Hippie-Glam-Jam group  Dead Room Cult will be opening.

  Dream Eye Color Wheel will be having a release party for their new album False Omega on May 19th at Kaiju, at 10pm, and it is FREE, Parallel Colors will be opening.

4/29 Crown Larks (Chicago) & Dr. Girlfriend at Kaiju

Chicago psychedelic super weirdos Crown Larks will be returning to Louisville on April 29th, in support of their new LP, Population, out 5/5. local heroes Doctor Girlfriend & Insect policy will be opening.
 

Sep. 23-25th Double Trouble Weekend (Midpoint Fest & Cropped Out)

After a summer of too few choices in the Music Festival market, two of the most unique music fests in the region will take place this weekend.

Cropped Out Music Fest in Louisville, in it's 6th year, aims to bring "overlooked" talent from the region together that have otherwise "been cropped out of the big picture." This year's line up includes Kool Keith, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Bill Callahan, Joan Shelley and more. September 23 & 24th at Turners on the river, with a Sunday show at Kaiju at 8pm.

MIDPOINT MUSIC FESTIVAL in Cincinnati began in 2001, and has grown into one of the region's largest, with attendance over 30,000. The mission statement of Midpoint is to "meet your new favorite band." by scheduling emerging and critically acclaimed  artists regardless of their album sales or billboard charts. This years Line Up includes Car Seat Headrest, Future Islands, Lucero, Houndmouth, Joan of Arc, and about 80 others. Friday Sep. 23-Sunday Sep.25th in Cincinnati, Ohio.

7/22 Soft Gang & Young Widows @ Kaiju

NYC based Soft Gang  (featuring Dom Cipolla of Phantom Family Halo & Starkiller) will be playing at Kaiju on Friday July 22nd with Young Widows and Pet Eunuch. This is an album release show for Soft Gang's s/t LP on Sophomore Lounge, recorded by Martin Bisi and features Tokyo embroidery artist Kaori Nakamura.

7/2 IamIs LP release show at Kaiju with Cut Family Foundation

Local rock duo IamIs will be releasing their 3rd LP, Go Supernovae!, on July 2nd at their album release show with Cut Family Foundation at Kaiju.

3/24 Kal Marks & Dry Summers @ Kaiju

As part of Cropped Out's "March Badness" Boston garage punk rockers Kal Marks will be playing in  Louisville with Garage/death rockers Dry Summers  at Kaiju on March 24th. Kal Marks has just released the LP "Life is Alright, Everybody Dies" on Midnight Werewolf records, and could be on course to be one of the best garage punk albums of the year.

11/27 Cropped Out: Phantom Familiar Jaylebyrds at Kaiju

 

This Friday Cropped Out presents State Champion, Mazozma Theatre Duo and a mixture of Phantom Family Halo and Jaye Jayle (billed as Phantom Familiar Jaylebyrds) at Kaiju. $5 21+

Could be the only time you will ever get to see Phantom Familiar Jaylebyrds. 

11/19 Rossonian and The Trouts at Kaiju

Last year at this time Denver band Rossonian spent Thanksgiving with Macaulay Culkin opening for his Pizza Underground band (that play renditions of Velvet Underground songs reworked with pizza lyrics), watched Culkin make-out with Har-Mar Superstar and then watched him kick  Rossonian's lead singer out of the Marquis Theater in Denver. This year Rossonian would rather spend Thanksgiving with you. They will be bringing their pop/garage rock to Kaiju with Louisville bands The Trouts, Little Gem, and Jettison Highwater on 11/19. Music at 8pm.
